About the name

I picked up the word "dreyrugr" from Philip Jose Farmer's "The Fabulous Riverboat", a book of the Riverworld saga. Quality sci-fi, by most folks standards.

The word dreyrugr is an Old Icelandic adjective for "bloodstained", "stained with the blood of the slain", or "covered in blood". It made for a good eight character handle for web use, online gaming, and starting conversations.

As I have grown into my faith, it began to pick up more meaning. It would crop back up in my thoughts when I sang hymns like "The Blood of the Lamb". Now I'm becoming exposed to the 2000 year history of the church, the martyrs, and the Sacrifice of the Mass, it takes on a fuller meaning.

Now I needed a blog title, and everything else I wanted is taken. There are several good ones that are not registered urls, but prudence dictates that I blog for a while before I blow a chunk of cash on something I may or may not use. So Dreyrugr it is.

Skoal!

Can not believe Noone has commented on this at all, what a shock...
Anyways, I am called many names in my faith but one I've recently acquired from my kindred and the gods is Dreyrugr Hrafn. Out of curiosity I sought the internet (more accurately google) to see if any others of my faith outside of my kindred had acquired this name.

Since this was posted over 10 years ago now I doubt I'll ever Hear from you but I'm commenting as a cast of dice I suppose. Skål and mega inn grjot visa thu.
